Get the kids involved in cooking.Teach them to pick something from each of these four groups; carbohydrates, protein, colour and calcium. This will force them to pick something from the fruit or veg group.

Hiding veg can work too! Add veg to hot dishes, such as casseroles. Put peas and chopped carrot in shepherd’s pie or add slices of pepper to pizza toppings.

Involve your child in food shopping by getting them to select fruit & veg.

Put fruit in desserts… Homemade smoothie ice-pops can be great tasty ways to boost fruit intake.

Often, children are put off by the texture rather than the taste. Try making your own milkshakes and smoothies by blending puréed fruit with milk or yoghurt.

Chop up fruit & veg and leave them in front of kids while they colour or play… You’ll be surprised how much they eat when it is put in front of them!
