What is The food academy Programme?

At SuperValu we are the biggest supporter of local producers in Ireland because we believe in local.

Now we have taken this a step further by joining forces with Bord Bia and the Local Enterprise Office Network to create the Food Academy Programme.

Giving Small Producers A Big Chance

Food Academy works with and nurtures small businesses through their journey from start up to getting their products on our shelves.

There are currently over 300 Food Academy small producers in SuperValu stores.

Your local SuperValu retailer is also on board giving strong retail and marketing advice as well as providing shelf space opportunities. It's all about encouraging entrepreneurship in Ireland and giving small producers a big chance.

  • 85% of Food Academy participants expect to employ new staff over the next 12 months.
  • Half of all Food Academy participants expect sales to increase by 50% or more over the next 12 months.

Food Academy is supporting over 1,130 jobs. Food Academy small producers are expected to create a further 373 jobs over the next 12 months, bringing the total number of jobs supported to just over 1,500 across the country.
