Second Street Bakeshop

Second Street Bakeshop is my second business, born—once again—from a sweet idea. My journey with food began at age 15, when I started cooking and selling homemade treats to classmates in secondary school. 

Years later, after emigrating to San Francisco, where I lived for 20 years, I launched Clairesquares—an artisan Irish cookie company known for its shortbread, caramel, and chocolate square-shaped bars. After 13 successful years, I sold the business in 2019 and returned home to Cork. 

Back in the kitchen, encouraged by friends and inspired by nostalgic American flavours, I founded Second Street Bakeshop in late 2021 and in 2023, I took part in the Food Academy program. 

From our base at Cork Incubator Kitchens in Carrigaline, we handcraft rich, toffee-laden brittle coated in premium Belgian chocolate and finished with Achill Island sea salt. All our products are made with natural, palm-oil-free and gluten-free ingredients. We use sustainably sourced chocolate that’s fully traceable, and our packaging is both resealable and 100% recyclable.
